Educators

Today’s children are a technology savvy generation who adopt digital and mobile technologies at a spectacularly fast rate.

Education experts and the wireless industry’s diverse ecosystem of service providers, device manufacturers and software and application developers are working together to help today’s children prepare for an increasingly digitized and mobile future. Wireless provides numerous innovative and beneficial tools in a variety of areas, including healthcare, public safety, social interactions and education.

While there are infinite possibilities for the future, today’s wireless devices already provide access to mLearning educational tools for children of all ages which means Internet access to the person for research, thousands of educational “apps” focused on language and literacy programs, news and other in-class teaching opportunities. It is easy to see why many educators appreciate and understand the value of wireless devices in the classroom.  In fact, some believe mobile devices will one day replace traditional backpacks.

As an educational leader, you can help facilitate this process by promoting the use of mobile devices and services for educational purposes by encouraging schools to review and update their existing technology policies and appropriately integrate mobile technologies and applications into their educational systems.

While there are numerous benefits mobile wireless access offers America’s youth, including opening doors for positive educational and social interactions, we should also recognize that children might irresponsibly use wireless technology and engage in inappropriate behavior. Together with kids, expert educators, parents, our members and The Wireless Foundation, CTIA has developed this website to help you educate your students and their families about the available tools and information to ensure children use their wireless devices in a smart, safe, fair and responsible manner.
