Since the mobile Internet is quickly becoming more popular and the preferred way for millions of Americans, including children, to access the web, it's important that kids are educated on responsible wireless use. During CTIA's interview with Common Sense Media's Vice President of Policy Alan Simpson, he provides parents with simple tips to keep their children safe in a wireless online setting. He also talks about the unique dangers that may face wireless users.

 

Wireless online safety is an important area of interest for state attorneys general, and Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning talks about the combination of sensible legislation and parental responsibility to keep kids safe in the wireless world.

 

Parents are often looking for help on how to talk to their children about important and sometimes sensitive subjects, such as online safety. The Federal Trade Commission's Assistant Director for Consumer and Business Education in the Bureau of Consumer Protection Nat Wood talks about the agency's effort to assist in that effort, which features the web site www.onguardonline.gov.

 

During his keynote remarks, CTIA-The Wireless Association's President & CEO Steve Largent announces the Be Smart. Be Fair. Be Safe: Responsible Wireless Use campaign and its Web site (www.besmartwireless.com).

 

How involved are parents these days when it comes to teen use of wireless? Who’s calling the shots in the household? In a live keynote focus group session at a recent CTIA show, teens shared their experiences about who has the last say about wireless in their homes.

 

Cell phones keep parents in touch with their kids and serve as a great safety tool for all. During a recent CTIA tradeshow, we heard from teens during a live keynote focus group on the safety value of wireless in their lives.

 

The wireless industry joins parents in their commitment to wireless child safety by working with organizations such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and providing adults with some simple tips to educate children about responsible wireless use.

 

American teenagers are making new and different demands for wireless products and services. CTIA-The Wireless Association's Vice President of Public Affairs John Walls talks about a 2008 national teen survey the association conducted with Harris Interactive, that looks not only at what teens think about wireless today, but perhaps more importantly, what they expect out of it tomorrow.
